    Uganda’s economy grew 6.4% in 2025/26

GDP (gross domestic product) is the value of everything produced in Uganda in a year. “Growth” counts only real extra production, with price rises taken out.

What is the economy made of?

Services (shops, transport, banks, schools, hospitals…) are the biggest part. Farming is about a quarter, and it has been growing its share since 2016/17.

    Reading these numbers

    • Real growth uses constant 2016/17 prices, so it measures more goods and services, not higher prices.
    • Size and shares use current prices, what things actually sold for that year.
    • Financial years run from July to June: 2025/26 is July 2025 to June 2026.
    • Quarterly growth compares each quarter with the same quarter a year earlier, so harvest seasons don’t distort it.

    Where this comes from

Our growth figures are recalculated from UBOS’s tables and checked against the growth rates UBOS publishes; the build fails if they differ.
